Today I was in need of some information on an Ubercart module on Drupal.org. Following a link from the Ubercart site, I found the module I needed. However, I felt lost when I got to the site. I looked up at the url to ensure I was on drupal.org. Yes, I was. The first thing that came into mind was, "this design is horrible. It is in no way user friendly."
Good thing I didn't create this post at that time.
On a second visit, I found some pretty useful stuff on the home page. Here is a quick list of things I find nice on the home page.
- The color scheme is still the same
- Information for new users are presented above the fold and present an obvious call to action
- For regular users navigational items are in the same general area
- There are new tools below the fold (on my computer)
- There is a map that regularly displays fresh updates from the site
- There is a tabular section that offer a quick glance of what is going on in the community
- I love the term 'download and extend'. It use to be 'download', but some how the addition of the term extend makes seems inviting.
The only problem I have with new design is the lack of the related modules block that use to be on the module's page. However, I some how think I will quickly get use to this and the new design and layout.
Thanks Drupal for always keeping it fresh!
